A healthy diet plan for parrots

We"ve already talked about dogs, cats and rodents, so now it"s time to focus on a healthy diet plan for a parrot. If you are a parrot owner, you should definitely get to know some basic details on what and how to feed your bird. First of all, parrots are omnivores, but they rely on plants much more than animal sources of food. This is why you ought to give it products such as fresh and dried fruit (bananas, figs grapes, apples, nectarines, raisins, dates), vegetables (broccoli, cauliflowers, peas, sweet peppers, celery, tomatoes), nuts (almonds, brazils, walnuts, hazelnuts and other), with small portions of cheese, chicken, cooked pulses, brown cooked rice or pasta. Most parrots also like snacks such as soaked sunflower seeds. A parrot should be fed at least twice a day. Any changes in eating patterns can cause behavioural problems. Make sure your bird has enough sources of vitamin A, which is especially important for birds. Good sources of vitamin A or beta-carotene are red or orange veggies and fruit such as carrots, pumpkins or peppers. Remember! You should never feed a bird on avocados, mushrooms or chocolate! These potentially poisonous ingredients should be excluded from your parrot"s healthy diet plan.
