Shopping for baby blankets
Mary called my early in the morning. I was really tired because I had been sleeping only for three hours. It was Saturday and I usually go to parties on Fridays so I did not feel like answering the phone at all. But I finally decided to get out of bed and find the ringing phone. I recognised Mary"s voice at once. But I could not make out anything of what she was saying. Shopping? Presents? Baby blankets? Well, after two or three minutes I became more awake and realised that she wanted me to go shopping with her. She was looking for a nice present for her brother"s little daughter and she had seen some cot mattress at one of the shopping centres nearby. Could I go with her and help her choose a cute blanket? Well, she had done me a favour recently when I was really broke and she borrowed me some money. Why should I refuse to help her? I told her I would be ready in an hour. With half-closed eyes, I made myself a cheese and jam sandwich and a cup of very strong coffee. Then I got dressed, brushed my teeth and left home. We arrived at the shopping centre at eleven o"clock. To be honest, I don"t like going shopping with Mary. She"s always so fussy. She spends hours choosing between different things. But this time, there was nothing to choose from. All cot mattress had already been sold.
